How to rock your photoshoot

There is a lot that goes on before you even get in front of the camera. And truth be told it can feel a little overwhelming especially if its your first photoshoot. Don't worry we've got your back from start to finish! Here we've compiled a list of helpful tips and tricks that will help you feel more confident for your big day. Choosing what to wear: Outfit selection is hard, if it's just you, select 2-5 outfits that give you variety but that also show off your personality. Don't be afraid to bring a bag. Having options is always a good thing. If you are shooting as a couple or a group wear complimentary colours. There will be more posted in our blog for what to wear and selecting outfits.

Plan a location: We have a long list of locations, The list can be found here however, don't limit yourself. Anywhere can be a location, whether its a cute cafe, your favourite bookstore, or your own backyard. We love getting creative with you in a location that brings happy memories for you!

Pack a to go bag:

Snacks, water, comfy shoes, all the essentials in a to go bag, the rule of thumb when it comes to our sessions is always be prepared. You never know where inspiration may strike and if something goes awry you want to be prepared. Also some locations require a bit of a hike, you want to be comfortable!

Celebrate the day: Turn your day into a celebration, if you're doing a photoshoot on the beach why not turn it into a beach picnic? Create something special and inspired for your big day. Especially with couples photos, you want time to relax together and that's when the best photos are taken, when you're both just being yourselves.

Time your photos accordingly

You don't want a strong overhead light so photos at noon won't be quite as dazzling as working within afternoon lighting, or even better golden hours. Those are sunrise or sunset. We do shoot in all weather but you don't have to, so if you notice that the day you've booked the weather looks like it may not be cooperating don't worry we can rebook your session no problem!

Picking a Photographer

Now picking a photographer is a big thing, you want to take into consideration not only their portfolio of work, but how they treat you. Each photo session is different and you want to feel valued, seen, and heard. Your artistic voice matters. So does your comfort. You want to pick a photographer who cares about you as an individual and your voice matters.

Booking a consultation Booking a consultation is absolutely vital to your success. You want to have a meeting with your photographer ahead of time to make sure you two get along and can create the vision you have for your images. There is a lot to go over during the initial consultation, and there should be at least two. One as a get to know your photographer. Another to go in depth about the details of your photoshoot.

Plan what you're going to do with your pictures We offer a variety of options for keepsakes with your images, maybe you want to create a photo album, mugs, or a t shirt as a gift with your best image on it! There is no limit to how you use your images. From calendars to posters we do truly try to incorporate all creative endeavors into our business.
